I am really glad that District 9 was nominated for an Oscar. In my option this film was ahead of its time in regards to plot and also in regard to special effects. There have been a lot of alien movies in recent years but none of them had the authenticity and personal touch that District 9 has. I also like the political and social commentary that was attached to this picture. I find it off that it did not do better at the box office. Hopefully it will develop a great cult following and people years from now will see it as a great step towards the types of films that we need more of in theaters.
